AvaLynn was attacked by another student on the school playground. We are fighting for answers and for greater supervision at school.

My friend Lacey Harris’s 5 year old daughter was brutalized by another child on the playground at school this week, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Her face is swollen and bruised beyond recognition, and the only thing the school can tell her is that they “are investigating”

This sweet little 5 year old girl is terrified to return to school. She is in pain and she has been MAIMED. This needs IMMEDIATE media attention. The school and local news are ignoring the mother’s and loved ones’ cries for help. This family needs justice for what has been done to their poor little angel, and not just to be swept under the rug, as the school district is attempting to do. PLEASE shine some light on this situation and force school administration and news media to get some answers!

The mother has started a GoFundMe page to request help for paying medical bills and legal fees, as it looks as though she’s going to have to pursue this route in order to get any justice at all for her little girl. Please, please, share this link on your page. Even if people are unable to donate, please just help us get the word out on what is going on with this poor family.

This is really heartbroken for me and extremely hard to look at.

This is the link to Ava’s donation page.
Please donate and share and PRAY!
God bless you all!

sorry to ruin such a lovely day, but I’m going to bring up the Grind since it’s August.

every year, the faroe islands kill thousands of endangered long-finned pilot whales for sport. it is considered a tradition that goes back to the 1500s and is carried out still today. it is called The Grind.

some argue ruining a tradition so old is immoral and disrespectful to those living there, but considering the endangerment of these animals and the brutality that takes place, it should be easy to say that a stop needs to be put to this.

long-finned pilot whales travel in nearby, warmer waters to give birth. those that take part in The Grind could care less that they are slaughtering, torturing, and ripping out fetuses from pregnant whales.

what happens to the meat? some of it is divided up among the locals, yet most of it is left to rot on the beach. the meat is also quite poisonous due to pollutants in the water and is not considered okay for consumption.

WARNING: Gruesome Description

So how does an entire community manage to go out and kill pilot whales? Do they use harpoons like Japanese whalers, or large boats? No.

Boats go out to herd up the whales who are usually far from the shore area. They push them towards the shore in a similar way the infamous Taiji Cove does; by creating loud noises and vibrations in the water to get the whales in the direction they want. the whales are chased to shore, where they become stranded and trapped. Those that are not lead to shore are hooked near the blowhole and dragged.

then the community begins the slaughter. those that are stranded are stabbed with knives. Their veins and arteries are cut to prevent blood from reaching their heads. The process is not only gruesome and gory, but long. it can take 30 seconds to 5 minutes for a pilot whale to die. not only do the individual whales face this ordeal, but they are surrounded by family going through the same thing and are aware of everything that happens to them.

children take part in this, often getting help from parents to slaughter the whales. they pose on dead carcasses for pictures and smile. others rip out the fetuses of the whales or continue mutilating them for enjoyment.

This event is technically illegal, considering the species most often killed is endangered. However, the Faroese government allows it.

Sea Shepherd is beginning to take part in ending it. They are going out this year to try and prevent the Grind from happening and bringing awareness to those performing the actions to understand that the cetaceans they are killing are fully aware of themselves, their family, and have the same emotions as humans and perhaps more.

if you’d like to help, please sign petitions (x, x, x) or support Sea Shepherd and other organizations to help bring this to an end.

This year, luckily, the presence of Sea Shepherd prevented the whaling from occurring. No whales have been killed this year.

okay so although i am not farose (so please call me out on any of these if wrong,) i can tell you some of the above information is false such as the fact that the long-finned pilot whales are one of the most abundant cetaceans in the north atlantic and are not listed as endangered (just google search, honestly.) and they even live in countless areas outside the north atlantic

if you want people to be concerned about the whale hunt (which btw has been regulated since the 1930s and makes unnecessary harm to them illegal) , then do it for the possible toxicity of the whales when eaten in larger quantities

in fact these guys are killed more by fishing gear than the hunts. the hunts only average about 850 whales per year

also the consumption of whale meat has been found to help combat SPCD, (which some think as many as 1 out of every 1000 islanders has the illness)

if you still have doubts about this or curious in any way then read about it on the english version of the farose government’s website that details things such as how they are concerned about the whale’s welfare

graphic? yes. but don’t go spewing lies because it doesn’t go with your ideals.

first of all, you are ridiculous to completely disregard the acts of murder against highly intelligent animals that gives no benefit to either population of humans or cetaceans just so you can have your little moment of being above others.

the endangerment of pilot finned whales doesn’t count as the species overall as you listed; the population that lives near the waters of the faroes are under great threat due to drives. i don’t know whether you are aware of that or not. another example of a particular group of species being included is killer whales; while killer whales don’t fall under being endangered, the southern residents are. because of this, strict laws have been placed to preserve them and keep them safe. websites proclaiming the endangerment of the species are those in hopes to spread awareness, while other websites, as you said, express how the amount of pilot whales in the world isn’t known, yet they are not considered endangered by SOME.

the CITES, however, sites them in Appendix II, showing that the hunting of the species can result into a dangerous decline, which is in the process since it appear more have been killed recently than in past years. the CITES condemns the Faroe islands for their actions and have made disputes towards the government, claiming their practice is barbaric, unethical, and does not follow their code. The Faroes, however, seem to think the CITES doesn’t apply to them and thus ignores it.

if you really think whaling is being regulated, you are very close minded. since 1930, studies have proven that cetaceans’ intelligent exceeds what was expected. back then, whales were not considered any different from fish. if you think it’s ethical to hunt whales, you know absolutely nothing.

unnecessary harm to kill? please explain the Taiji Slaughters then. no research is taken from the slaughters; only cetaceans for entertainment and meat, though the meat is highly toxic, which violates Japanese health and safety laws. Also, Japanese whaling hasn’t made any spark or finding in the scientific community for whales. The IWC began questioning whether the Japanese were following what was allowed, which was hunting of whales ONLY if it was for scientific research. The reason it’s been slid under the rug is because it was done in some secrecy and they have “research” plastered on the side of their boats. It got to the point where the Japanese were now BANNED from hunting whales, though continued anyway, violating regulations. So you REALLY think that it’s being regulated, or that governments even give a shit?

and you’re just contributing to how fucked up the human species is to have fishing gear littered into the sea and threatening marine life. Oh, they are killed by nets! That means it doesn’t matter if they are brutally murdered for no reason but sick pleasure! what’s even going through your mind bud?

and whale meat is proven to be highly poisonous with mercury, as said before, due to pollutants in the water. and to CONDONE the consumption of whale meat goes FURTHER into showing how ignorant you are to the species. if you knew how these whales lived and how their brains worked, you would be utterly disgusted that people can go through with torturing them.

i’m not spewing lies. why on earth would i do that? because they don’t meet my ideal? why the fuck would i waste my time spreading info on something “not real”, especially considering you DONT FUCKING KNOW ME and how much i care for cetaceans. you honestly disgust me for trying to find loopholes in their actions and trying to convince people “oh it’s not so bad!”

i read what the Faroe website said, and I’m not anymore comforted or pleased. you accuse me of telling lies? they say the regislation “requires that animals are killed as quickly and with as little suffering as possible”. when it comes to killing a pilot whale, there is no easy or painless way. it is FILLED with suffering. fucking IMAGINE being rounded up onto shore, where cetaceans only go for a death wish (aside for some transient orcas and dolphins who have developed fishing techniques), and watching your family around you scream and cry for their lives. not only do the animals endure physical pain, but the mental pain and trauma they must ordeal is sickening to even imagine. these animals live in tight family units, they are aware of each other and themselves. do you just push that aside?

yknow, i honestly don’t even care if the Faroes make attempts to preserve whales or are concerned, considering their just as fucking guilty. you can work at a soup kitchen all you want, but that doesn’t give you the excuse to go brutally murder homeless people. your logic makes no sense.

don’t even try to disregard this situation or push it aside. how fucking dare you cross out my words and petitions. get over yourself.
